Preparation: Before going to Addis Ababa as an investor and looking for land in the countryside, you should be 100% sure of the following points: 1. The type of business organization under which you wish to be organized. 2. The market your company wants to focus on. 3. The required environmental conditions. Altitudes in Ethiopia vary from 800 to 2700 m a.s.l. and there is a wide range of agro-climatic zones in the country. You can therefore be very specific in your application for land. This will make cooperation with the investment agency easier. Cooperation may diminish when an investor changes his/her requirements. Required documents Foreign investors need to take along an English translation of the memorandum and articles of association of their company name. |
| In the company’s home
country, the memorandum and articles of association, and/or the minutes
that show the shares of the different parties need to be translated by a
certified translator and approved by: 1 The appropriate court. Note that this should be the same court as the one where the certified translator was sworn in. 2 The Ministry of Justice. 3 The Ministry of Foreign Affairs. 4 The consulate or embassy of Ethiopia. In Ethiopia the memorandum and articles of association have to be endorsed by: 1 The Ministry of Foreign Affairs. 2 A public notary. A certified copy, approved by a notary, of your passport is also required. The Ethiopian Investment Agency only needs a translation by a certified translator of the required documents. |
